We finally have some video of TIM MCGRAW tossing that abusive fan out of his concert Sunday night in Paso Robles, California. --In case you missed it: Tim saw some dude acting inappropriately towards a woman in the crowd, so he stopped the show and said, quote, "You don't treat a woman like that." Then he waited until security removed the guy before continuing the show. Check out the video below!

Fun At The Captains!

Took the boys to see America's Past Time over the weekend to see our local Captains's Baseball team.  It's always a nice time to watch a game and hang out!  It was boys night out since the Momma was in Texas at a baby shower.  Trale and Mason got to show off some of their dancing skills in between innings!

ToddTube

I'm back as the MC for the American Cancer Society Baron's Ball event on August 22nd at Fox Creek Farms. Commercial time!! They invited me to be on their TV Public Service Announcement spot. Again, no funding for a new toupee. Sorry ladies...

Special thanks to Fox 33 for shooting and airing it for us, and to Julie Colvin and Brooke Henry for getting me on the tube!

Don't Forget To Check The Pockets!

I usually wash the jeans each week, because I always go through all the pockets to make sure the kids didn't leave something, or me for that matter. My wife got hold of the pants this weekend, and didn't check the pockets... my wallet was left in one of the pockets and left bits of papers and stuff everywhere in the washing machine... so... should I have checked my pockets before putting in the laundry or should she have checked???

I Got Your Number Chicken People

We are a frequent customer at Chick-Fil-A...we love the chicken sandwiches and the kids nuggets meal for the boys.  The restaurant would always let you exchange the toy in the bag for a small ice cream.    The toy today came in a black, secretive, bag.  On the outside it says, open for a chance to win a free ice cream!  So instead of exchanging the toy for the ice cream, we opened it to see if we won, of course!  We got a nice little toy cow and a piece of paper that said better luck next time.  You see where I'm going with this??  Now, we have a toy and no ice cream, and now have to spring for some ice cream because we opened the toy instead of exchanging for ice cream.  Haha!  I got your number Chick-Fil-A marketing people.  I fell for your trick this time.... I'm watching you now!  See you again on family night.

Junk In My Trunk

Time is counting down to the new baby.  So, I spent much of Sunday, moving furniture around and cleaning out stuff to sell to make room.   You wouldn't believe the little scraps of stuff I save.  Ticket stubs, bumper stickers, old airchecks. Here's a little collage, see if you recognize anything:  Click on the pic to see a bigger version.
When I turned 18, my hair all fell out thanks to male pattern baldness.... so, people always ask me to show pictures of what I looked like with hair.  Enjoy!

At church camp about 12 years old.  Nice bright red shorts and tube socks!

My 18th Birthday driver's license, the last one with hair.  I got rid of the mullet just days before this shot was taken in 1995!

Weekend Inbox

This was in my inbox this morning.  It's a YouTube video of an insurance company exec who left the field after almost 20 years to become a health reform advocate.  This is a must see if you have concerns over government run health care.

You know that I'm a pretty big advocate of health care for all... and anti-anybody who claims to be a conservative or liberal, because everybody has individual ideas and beliefs and can't fully be put into one category or the other.  Don't follow the herd, research and come up with your own conclusion.  If you haven't seen the Sicko movie yet, run down to the library and rent it. Then go fact check the movie, you'll find that it's pretty right on.

The best health care bill is already in the house, but is getting no attention due to deep-pocketed lobbyists, as you saw in the YouTube video above.  Google HR676 and call your reps in the house and senate.

Health care for all, right now!  Everybody in, Nobody left out.

Number Madness

Tick Tock!  Today is 07/08/09!

Two times today the numbers get better....
Time and date match up at:
12:34:56 07/08/09
~and again~
04:05:06 07/08/09

The numbers only line up like that once in a millennium... Congrats!

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Now on to some creepier numbers... You knew this was going to happen... a celebrity dies and people try to come up with conspiracy theories and link events with numbers... here's one:

What's up with Michael Jackson and the number 7?

>>TMZ seems to think this is a big deal . . . what do you think???

>>Jackson signed his will on July 7th, 2002 or, 7/7. His memorial was held exactly 7 years later, on 7/7/09.

>>Michael's two biggest hits, "Billie Jean" and "Black Or White", were both #1 for 7 weeks.

>>Michael's three biggest albums, "Thriller", "Bad" and "Dangerous" . . . each had 7 Top 40 hits.

>>Michael was the 7th of 9 children.

>>Michael Jackson was born in 1958 ... 19 + 58 = 77

>>Michael Jackson died on the 25th ... 2 + 5 = 7

>>Michael Jackson has 7 letters in his first and last name.

Creepy huh?

You're a bug eater!

To keep me hydrated and looking good, (ha!) I drink lots of water during the day. Today a little fly landed in my cup-o-refreshment. It got me thinking about that study that says we eat so many bugs a year without knowing it?? So I hunted it down for the blog today.

From WikiAnswers.com
"On a yearly basis the average person in Europe and North America eats about:
602 pounds of sugar
133 pounds of vegetable oil
96 pounds of protein
40 pounds of fiber
This totals about  880 lb each year, with water in the food this comes to almost 1500 lb/year. However some foods are not likely to contain insects or insect bits (sugar, protein, vegetable oil) so you are left with on the 40 lb of fiber to contain all the "bug bits"
From the Wikipedia article on Entomophagy (eating insects) it would appear that at most there would be a couple of milligrams of insect fragments in any given food per 10 gram sample - say 5mg/10g or 1part bugs to 2000 parts food.
So, if you live mainly on cereals, breads, candy, penut butte, and canned friuits and veggies you may get up to 1 lb/yr. A healthier diet will see a lot less.
An aside: Bugs aren't all that bad for you. They are a good source of protein. Many countries have a "bug enhanced" diet. In Europe and North America we happily eat bug derived products like honey.
Studies indicate that on average people eat between 8-12 insects a year in their sleep. In these cases the insects simply end up in the mohth at the wrong time and are swallowed. This can increase if you ride motorcycles or biks with no facial protection."
Mmmmm.... Tasty!

How Do You Like Them Apples?

Have you ever participated in or seen an eating contest?  You've heard about them... the hot dogs, grits, tamales, crawfish.... How about apples?  Nope, me neither, until today!

I'm not one to participate in eating contests, in fact, I'm trying to lose weight... but I did participate in the local  Chocolate Crocodile Apple Eating Contest at the Louisiana Boardwalk.  It was a bunch of radio and tv people, so the contest wasn't going to be scientific or legal for that matter!  When they plopped down this gigantic apple that looked like a basketball in front of me, I was thinking how -not- to blow chunks after the contest.
We had 10 minutes to eat as much of the apple, or two, if needed.  Once we got started, I honestly went as fast as I could to eat this apple, but it was a pound and a half of chocolate/caramel/pecan dipped/granny smith apple goodness.   It was really good!

After getting through all the chocolate and caramel, I finally got to the apple.  I thought I was doing pretty good until I looked up and most were finishing up their first apple and moving on to their second.  People who were cheering for me at first, were now cheering for traffic guru, Jeff Parker, who plowed through two full apples when time was up.  Jeff won with gusto!

All said and done, I ate an entire monster apple.... but came in last place!   My wife and kids enjoyed my second apple, which I didn't even touch.

Hey... no "after contest" chunk-age!  I win!

Happy 4th of July!

#300! ...and getting healthy!

Almost 3 years and now Post #300 at ToddOnAir.com!!  Woop!  Woop!  I have nothing special for #300, than just to freak out and say it's post #300!  Thank you for checking out my little blog year after year, letting me vent my ramblings to you and for your friendship!
>>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<<<
I'm trying to get a head start on losing some of this baby weight I have seemed to accumulate over the past six months, so recently started waking up just a little earlier to walk around the neighborhood.   Nothing strenuous, just a fast walk for 30 minutes.

About 3 years ago, I lost about 15 pounds over the summer and got in shape simply by riding my bike everyday for 30 minutes and eating less.  Now that I'm a little older, I figure I also need to watch what I eat too, but I find it very difficult to find fast food that is good, healthy, easy to find, and easy to eat in a car.  (Ever try eating a salad at 70 mph?)

Any healthy fast food tips?
