Holiday Road!

Taking time off with the family this week! Off to Wally World!

I'm forgetting something.

Have you ever had that gut feeling that you are supposed to remember something and later realized what it was?  Has it ever been your wedding anniversary?   Yeah... that was me!

Talk about being in the doghouse with the wife!  Except, she forgot too!!  I was getting ready for work this morning when Holli ran into the bathroom and said "Oh my gosh!  Our anniversary was yesterday!!!"

Ahhhhh!!  As you can imagine the initial panic that I forgot our anniversary.  With all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for vacation this week and taking the kids to grannie and paw-paw's that we both forgot.   To avoid this issue next year, I put the date on both our blackberry phones.  Surely it won't forget!  I even set a reminder the day before!  Haha!

We'll get to make up for it this weekend while the boys are in Texas!  Happy 7th Anniversary Holli Bean!  I love you!  You are an amazing wife and even more amazing mother to our boys!   Thanks for the hall pass on this one babe!

Socialize me

On any given day, I imagine I burn an hour or two just looking at my Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter.  You add in my blog and then actually updating Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter, I have about three minutes left in my day.  It's not necessarily a bad thing...I guess?

There is no better radio show prep than what everybody is "tweeting" about on Twitter.  I can't count the news stories I have heard about first on Twitter, not to mention all the one liners from the crazy people I follow!

If you find there is no conversation in your life.  Read about other people's lives on Facebook and talk about them.  Somebody's always got some drama going on.  Great dinner table chatter.

Turn boring Presidential press conferences into your personal cell phone jockey debate via Twitter. You know your inner political beast wants out, you flaming liberal and/or conservative!

Sure... add on another social media application.  I'm on it.  Sleep is overrated anyway!  See you online!

Oh... and follow me too.  You stalker.

The spoon:
A lesson on how consultants can make a difference in an organization.

Last week, we took some friends to a new restaurant, 'Steve's Place,'
and noticed that the waiter who took our order carried a spoon in his shirt
pocket.

It seemed a little strange. When the busboy brought our water and
utensils, I observed that he also had a spoon in his shirt pocket.

Then I looked around and saw that all the staff had spoons in their
pockets. When the waiter came back to serve our soup I inquired, 'Why the
spoon?'

'Well, 'he explained, 'the restaurant's owner hired Andersen Consulting
to revamp all of our processes. After several months of analysis, they
concluded that the spoon was the most frequently dropped utensil. It
represents a drop frequency of approximately 3 spoons per table per hour.

If our personnel are better prepared, we can reduce the number of trips
back to the kitchen and save 15 man-hours per shift.'

As luck would have it, I dropped my spoon and he replaced it with his
spare. 'I'll get another spoon next time I go to the kitchen instead of
making an extra trip to get it right now.' I was impressed.

I also noticed that there was a string hanging out of the waiter's fly.

Looking around, I saw that all of the waiters had the same string
hanging from their flies. So, before he walked off, I asked the waiter,
'Excuse me, but can you tell me why you have that string right there?'

'Oh, certainly!' Then he lowered his voice. 'Not everyone is so
observant. That consulting firm I mentioned also learned that we can save
time in the restroom.

By tying this string to the tip of our you-know-what, we can pull it out
without touching it and eliminate the need to wash our hands, shortening the time spent in the restroom by 76.39%.

I asked quietly, 'After you get it out, how do you put it back?'

'Well,' he whispered, 'I don't know about the others, but I use the
spoon.'

Lady Antebellum @ CenturyTel Center

Almost two years ago I saw Lady A at a radio conference in Nashville.  Their first song just hit radio, so they weren't huge yet, but they were doing a disco themed show for a bunch of radio people.  I was amazed:  I had no idea who these guys were but, they were country artists playing disco!  Lady A rocked the room and the fake 'fro.  I was right up against the stage two feet away from Hillary Scott.   I haven't seen them in concert since then until last Friday at the Chesney show.  What a group!  They sounded great on stage!  Lady A shoots video before and after the show and produces these "webisodes."  Shreveport/Bossier got a shoutout!  Check it out...

Check out Lady A's CD too!  It's one of those you can listen to all the way through without popping the CD out.

You too, can be a philanthropist!

Want to spread your wealth around? I can help you become a known philanthropist in just one easy step.

Step one: Let inspection sticker expire.

That's right! Pretty soon the police will get to "know you" and schedule a day to visit the city mecca and make a "generous donation" to the city coffers.

Now, go ahead and get your new inspection sticker. You'll be making one mechanic's day by giving them 10 whole dollars to look at your car to make sure "it's safe." Oops, that crack on the passenger side of the car is a little too long. You will need to get a new one!  Another great opportunity to give to others!

It's now your day at the city mecca!  Bring the money truck with you.  Remember you are on your way to being a known philanthropist!  Look at all the people that make the mecca run!

See, in one day, your "donation" supports the local economy by paying for mechanics, police, judges, the glass industry, and wasteful government spending!  Congratulations!  You are now a known philanthropist!

That was easy!!  And all you had to do is let your inspection sticker expire!  Tell your friends and they too can be like you!  Be lucky, because in some states, you don't need an inspection sticker, and therefore you cannot be a known philanthropist.  How sad for them.

God points and laughs at me...

If you have kids, you know how much a blessing it is.  I have two wonderful, rowdy, little boys who are now 7 and 4 years old.  Quite a handful!  When my wife, Holli, told me she was expecting again, I did the Homer Simpson thing... Do'h! could be heard up and down the street. She has been wanting a girl since child #1.  I, of course, was hoping for another boy, because I have a lot of experience now with boys.  Boys are easy!

Today, I went to the doctor with Holli to find out what we were having.  We found out... wait for it....to the delight of my wife, we are having a GIRL!!   Whoo hoo!   I am very happy to have a girl on the way, but in a way, it's like God is pointing at me laughing!  I think he knows that I'm scared to death just thinking about what the future brings with a girl and wanted to inject a little more humor in my life.

Boy or Girl, I'm stoked! #3 is on the way sometime in late September-Early October.  I better start saving up now!

Stuck!

Sometimes things go wrong on tour. Here's a bizarre example. Jimmy Wayne was 20 minutes late for his show last Thursday in Fort Walton Beach, Florida because his tour bus door was STUCK and he couldn't get out.

Eventually, someone brought a ladder and Jimmy had to climb out the bus window. Here's a video of the craziness! Since I used to work in Ft. Walton Beach, there are a bunch of places I recognize, like The Swamp and even my buddy Big Nic is in the video too. He even gets a shout out at the end of the video.  Check it out!

Which way is up?

Ahhh... Spring is in the air!  Flowers start to bloom, the grass gets greener, and then my brain starts forming into this jello type substance!  We're getting into the busy season here at the radio station .  All the concerts start rolling in, festivals in towns I've never heard of, and getting pulled in all kinds of directions.  I'm already starting to feel it.

When all this happens, my mind goes into this A.D.D. memory loss state.  I'll have a list of 20 projects, and they start all at once.  It goes kinda like this: I need to schedule music, call my friend, produce a web banner, twitter, walk down the hallway, and oooooh... look at that fly on the wall!

It's more like ADOS: Attention Defic... Ohhh Shiny!

Weekend Spam

My wife sent this to me last week and thought it was pretty neat.
>>>>>>>>>>>>
God left us great clues as to what foods help parts of our body!  God's Pharmacy! Amazing!

*A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

*A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

*Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

*A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

*Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

*Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

*Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers.. And how profound is this? It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (modern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

*Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

*Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics

*Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

*Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just like the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

*Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

The Last Lullaby

Got to meet a movie director today!  That was pretty cool!  Jeffery Goodman of the new movie "The Last Lullaby " stopped by the KRMD studio today to chat about his new film.  Super cool guy!  Listen to the interview on the right side of my blog.
The movie was shot locally in Shreveport and around the Ark-La-Tex.  The film has some pretty big stars in it.  Check out the trailer to the movie below then go see it!
