Slummin'
Even before the Oscars last weekend, I heard about Slumdog Millionaire and really wanted to see it. It was date night with the wife tonight! We decided to do something different and go see the indie film with all the Oscar buzz. We could have went to the multiplex to see it, but decided on the uber indie Robinson Film Center in downtown Shreveport. It's pretty new and only has two screens where they show mostly independent films or bring back old films to watch. It was our first visit to the center and we were truely amazed at the facility. I highly recommend a visit to see some great movies you would otherwise probably never see! The perfect venue to see Slumdog Millionaire. The seats were packed! I imagine the Oscar publicity last weekend didn't hurt.
In the first scenes of the movie, my wife couldn't believe that the poor in India walk in their own trash and live in shacks built so tightly together. I said, in some countries it's worse than that!
I won't give away Slumdog Millionaire, but to say it's an amazing story, told very vividly. If you want to see Slumdog Millionaire at the RFC, go now! It's the last week to see it there.

Jindal Gets Ripped!

I caught this rip on Jindal on Jimmy Kimmel last night.
It was a funny bit, but you and I know, who have seen Jindal on the tube, that he seemed very nervous. I didn't think twice after I watched his 12 minute speech; I thought he did just fine.
What's your take on the media and pundits ripping up Governor Jindal's speech? Spout off with your thoughts on the speech with a comment below.

Twitter Crack
Because there aren't enough social websites for people to stalk you. I'm on one more. Actually, I'm returning. I joined Twitter two years ago and thought..."eh! This will never take off." So, I'm back. Please try to restrain yourself.
It was pretty cool to follow the "tweets" from some of the ABC news guys during the Presidential address last night.
Join up and follow my every move! I never did have good table manners.

Stimulus Package Q&A
From the inbox:
Sometime this year, taxpayers will receive an Economic Stimulus Payment.
This is a very exciting new program that I will explain using the Q and A
format:
Q.What is an Economic Stimulus Payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.
Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.
Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. No, they are borrowing it from China. Your children are expected to repay the Chinese.
Q.What is the purpose of this payment?
A.The plan is that you will use the money to purchase a high-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.
Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?
A. Shut up.
Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the US economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:
If you spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China.
If you spend it on gasoline it will go to Hugo Chavez, the Arabs and Al Queda
If you purchase a computer it will go to Taiwan.
If you purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, Chile, and Guatemala.
If you buy a car it will go to Japan and Korea.
If you purchase prescription drugs it will go to India
If you purchase heroin it will go to the Taliban in Afghanistan
And none of it will help the American economy.
We need to keep that money here in America.
You can keep the money in America by spending it at yard sales, going to a baseball game, or spend it on prostitutes, beer (domestic ONLY), or tattoos, since those are the only businesses still in the US.
